Mike and Janet Hicks purchased both restaurants in 2000 and with more than 50 years of restaurant experience between them, they thought "What the heck, let's give it a try!" The original Carolina Barbecue restaurant opened its doors around 1980 at Hearon Circle and the second location opened in 1983 on Blackstock Rd.

These days Michael (Mike and Janet's son) manages the Blackstock Rd. location (along with his wife Ashley and Janet). Mike manages the Hearon Circle location as well as the catering of big and small events - so give us a try!

The secret to our juicy barbecue is in the vinegar-base and we hickory smoke it to juicy perfection. Our BBQ mimics the famous Lexington-style BBQ so popular in the South. While new dishes are added frequently, we haven't changed the famous old recipes that are still being served daily.
